Fossil fuel, such as coal, oil and natural gas, is extensively used in many countries which cause harms to the environment. The use of alternative sources of energy, including wind and solar power, however, is being encouraged in many countries. Is this a positive or negative development?

Agree

- Fossil fuels are non- renewable, limited stock and extinction at an alarming rate

- Fossil fuels not Eco-friendly, cause environmental degradation

- Burning of fossil fuels lead to health issues such as cancer, respiratory problems, allergies

- Renewable energy sources/ non-conventional energy sources/ green sources do not pollute the environment

Disagree

- Initial setup cost is very high

- Depends on geographical locations

- Unreliable ---weather can affect the energy supply

- Hard to produce same amount as non-renewable sources
